This is how I see my house
In 1980 I bought 13500 sq meters of land in the village of Tegueste, basically a 45 meters wide and 350 meters long to the top of the mountain in which I built this wonderful house in three levels. Althogh the property is located in the side of a steep hill which gives great views, the terraces are safe for children and there is a safety gate for the pooI. I lived there for eight years until I went to England to work as a professional musician in the Halle Orchestra in Manchester, otherwise, I promise I would still be there. I fell in love with the place because it is really quiet and peaceful but not too far away from a bit of life. Over the years I have made additions and improvements to the house now I feel that it is somewhere that can be fully appreciated by others. The property is ideal for people to get together to enjoy group activities e.g. yoga, chamber music, painting, etc, because the house has a large room to accomodate lots of people.
The Villa is not located in a tourist resort and it has a very hidden access through a rough track (last 300 mts) that makes ideal for people who wants real peace and quiet. The track is a bit rough but good to drive with a car.
Within fiveminutes walking distance through the dirt track you are in the centre of village of Tegueste that has a charming square with an ancient church, many shops, restaurants, bars, but still retaining the typical canarian village feel. The local area is excellent to experience canarian food with restaurants boasting wonderful grills, fish and salads. I can recommend "La Bodeguita del Colgadizo" near the Church and Town Hall", "El Parralito" in El Socorro, Tegueste, very cheap and very good. Try "La Cofradia de Pescadores" by the little harbour in Punta del Hidalgo for some nice fish straight from the sea. With a car you can be at the coast in six minutes and enjoy the resorts of Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo. If you want to get away from the artificial feeling of the mass tourism in the south to discover the rich culture of Tenerife then this is the place to be.
For music lovers there is a wonderful concert hall in Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife, and only 16 km away which runs an International Concerts Series attracting world- class musicians, ensembles and conductors. Ask for Auditorio De Tenerife.
From our experience we recommend hiring a car to make the most of the exciting places to visit. You can also use public transport to take you to the forest and then walk back to the house through attractive routes.
