Marina Alta - Denia/Javea villa rental details Check Prices and Availability

Casa Moreana- The Location
Casa Moreana is located on Monte Pego- a development for luxurious living in a scenic beauty spot on the Costa Blanca, overlooking the coast and nearby beaches. But car hire is essential for all holidays

Getting there could not be easier. Regular flights from British, Irish and continental airports go to Alicante and Valencia and Murcia airport an extra 45 minutes drive away.
The villa has a stunning relaxing, unobstructed view over a valley and near by hills/mountains. Its patio area gets the sun all day long, and there is a covered “veranda”, with table and seating for 6, for shelter should the sun become too intense.

Situated 95 km from both Alicante Airport and Valencia Airport it can be reached in under an hour from either airport using the Auto via (AP7). The villa, pool and surrounds are COMPLETELY PRIVATE and the only noise you regularly here is that of crickets.

There is a STUNNING LOCAL BEACH (4 minutes away) which is safe, wide and 18 KM long and never crowded. It is a childrens paradise, indeed it is paradise and has always maintained its BLUE FLAG status. There is a multitude of beach sports and activities, and the facilities are excellent. The Red Cross Life Guards, are on duty most of the year most of the time. Every water activity you can think of from para-gliding to scuba diving to surfing is located locally, and all takes place is a deep blue sea with a salty taste of vitality. I challenge anyone to find better beaches than those located within a few minutes of Casa Moreana. Indeed to be fair the entire coast has excellent beach facilities, including a few naturist beaches. The nearest (authorisied) to Casa Moreana being 15 minutes away.

Casa Moreana is away from the madding crowd but within a few minutes drive of all the action. The atmosphere in the area is laid back and relaxing. Indeed the air is so pure that for the first few nights you may sleep like a log. The night sky itself shows the heavens in all their glory as only light industry is located in the area and pollution is minimal. Yet despite this idyllic environment the road network is excellent, (even quite minor roads) and getting around is a pleasure and a stress free experience.

To quote the comments book “What a attractive area, the quietness and beauty of the mountains and the sea” and another “Beautiful scenery in a quiet setting. Plenty to do and see within one hours driving.” In point of fact the scenery is breathtaking, and unspoilt. A flat nature reserve, (with boating and fishing), contrasting with mountains, valleys, seas, orange groves and rice paddy fields. Cap de la Nao, Altea, Guadalest, Moiraira, Penyal d’Ifac, are all for different reasons worth a visit and within easy reach. There is a narrow gauge railway from Denia to Alicante, which in a travel review in the Irish Times was rated as the best journey in Europe to take. I can vouch for the fact that the views from the railway are unrivaled in Europe, and that includes my own country Ireland.

FIESTAS are frequent in towns in the area and you would be unlucky not to have one nearby during your stay. The fiesta of The Three Kings in Xabia on 6th January and the Easter Passion ceremonies in Pego are not to be missed. Also of great interest are the Moors and Christian, Festivities, which often last a day or two in each local town in July and August. This festivity rotates among the towns so that for the entire summer there is a fiesta somewhere. The running of the bulls into the sea in Denia also takes place in summer.

The FISH MARKETS in Xabia, and Denia are worth visiting, you will get fresh fish, just landed- grill it, or barbeque it outside and consume “con un copa vino blanco seco o dos”

Tennis is on site and there are three championship golf courses nearby (15/20 minutes) one of which held the Spanish Open.
GOLF on the Costa Blanca is a 365 day a year experience.

Within the urbanization is a commercial centre with , three EXCELLENT restaurants, two bars, inter-net café, tennis and padel courts, and a children’s play area. The two restaurants serve mouth- watering food and are highly recommended. In July and August a bbq is held each Friday, in the Resturante Monte Pego, booking is recommended, as is attendance, AT LEAST ONCE.

El Verger, Ondara, and Pego (founded in 1488) are close by, small enough to be intimate, but large enough to have all facilities you might need, video rentals, tapas bars, restaurants, taxi services, laundrettes, excellent hair- dressers, patisseries, and GOOD supermarkets, (in Mercodona Supermarket, Pego the display of fish and seafood is staggering), there are two good bodegas in Ondara even fishing rods and tackle can be bought locally.

There are authentic Spanish villages particularly Pego which has a attractive square, shaded by trees where the older gather to exchange their news and gossip, and the young strut their stuff for the pleasure of potential suitors. In Pego there are lovely water features and a magnificent church, and a spectacular church of ease, Local Authority buildings and its own soccer team. Pego also has an excellent Health Clinic.

Denia (called after the Roman Goddess Diana (8 minutes away) is a bustling town with a regular population of 41,000 people, which swells to 120,000 in summer. It is a sea- side resort with a fishing port, night- life, historic sites and all the attractions that a Mediterranean town has to offer. Denia was founded, by the Romans and re built as a strong trading port by the Moors. Indeed it was one of the Moors last strongholds in Spain. Its trading history and fortifications are quite impressive. From Denia one can go on Day trips to the Balearic Islands, jet skiing, deep- sea fishing, glass-bottomed boats and the like. The town has its old quarter, (for the more retiring) to its disco scene (generally well behaved). Balmy summer nights, attractive pier walks, fine tree lined avenues, first- rate bars and restaurants, to suit all types.

Many authentic attractive villages are within easy reach, and getting off the tourist track is comparatively easy.

Near and in these villages are many attractive restaurants, which can dish up a delightful gastronomic experience, and generally at a fraction of British or Irish prices. The Gastronomy of the area is renowned, fresh seafood and fish being a great treat. Steaks are also recommended, as is lamb. One restaurant in Ondara is famous locally for its steaks and tapas (booking is usually necessary). The on site Café Residential Swiss is 100 meters away and is a must do experience. The children and indeed the adults will love being spoilt in a setting, with wonderful views over the local countryside and Mediterranean, book early and get an outside table it is well worth the effort. A Swiss Rosti is a treat everyone deserves now and again.

For the new experience adverse individuals you can obtain British/Irish type food, in El Verger, Denia, Ondara and in a multitude of places. There are restaurants to suit and to cater for all budgets and tastes. (The caretaker and brochures in the villa will assist you in this regard).

Local markets are held in El Verger, Pego, Olivia and other nearby towns on a weekly basis. Full details are available in the villa.

Casa Moreana - What to do, Where to Go
Much is written about the superb climate on the Costa Blanca. Generally speaking the summers are slightly cooler and less humid than the Costa del Sol, with the winters drier, less windy and sunnier. The climate is so perfect that the World Health Organisation has proclaimed that the Moriara, Xabia, and Denia peninsula of the Costa Blanca has “One of the most environmentally perfect climates in the world”.
It would take a much bigger web site than at present at my disposal to outline all the things to do when based in Monte Pego. From musical recitals to general relaxing, to flying lessons in Area de San Antonio- the place is awash with activity, but the villa is quiet.
Located nearby are:
· Superb beaches for swimming and water sports, or for relaxing and just sun bathing. Caution with the sun, especially for the first few days, cream off well as de-hydration or sun- burn can spoil a holiday.
· Diving and scuba diving. (There are lots of scuba diving schools for both the experienced and novice). Some can give you international accreditation under the PADI schemes.
· Fishing- both sea and coarse. Fishing is a Spanish pastime and many Spaniards can be seen on the beaches fishing for hours on end all year long.
· Boating. The local town of Pego hires rowing boats on its nature reserve. There are serious boat hire facilities in Denia, Xabia, Moraira, Altea, and other resorts all within 45 minute drive. You can also hire paddle boats and canoes.
· Snorkelling, and scuba diving- there are many schools one of which a previous client recommended. (see www.uboatbuceo.com)
· Surfing. Surf- boards can be hired on the front in Denia.
· Sail Boarding- Sail boards can be hired on the front in Denia.
· Canoeing/Kayaking facilities care available in Denia, Xabia, Calpe, and Moraira.
· Hiking (attractive secluded mountain tracks). There are recognised routes though farmers do not generally mind you crossing their land. Indeed you can pick the oranges or local fruit as you go. Pego Co-Operative, to which most of the local farmers belong sells produce in Dunnes Stores and in some British stores.
· Biking (cycling is a local pastime). There are designated cycle paths starting from the entrance to the urbanisation.
· Golf (3 championship courses within 15km). The caretaker is a member of the local golfing society and can assist you, he may even play you as a guest of The Pego Golfing Society..
· Crazy golf is located in the near by Bella Vista Club. ·
Paragliding. There is a school in summer, which operates on the local beach. Courses generally have to be pre-booked, as demand would appear to be heavy.
· Go-Karting. There are many tracks ranging from very junior to the best in Spain in Moirara. (The Spanish Champion comes from the region)
· Terra Mitica and Aqualandia theme Parks (45 minutes away).(see www.terramiticapark.com). A great day out for a family.
· Museums- I recommend going to Guadalest some 45 minutes away. In summer go early to avoid the tour buses, Guadalest attracts a huge amount of visitors. A stronghold in the mountains of the Moors, in its day, it is well worth the visit. Denia Castle is also worth going to, and has wonderful views for those who make it to the top.
· Local caves with stalagmites and stalactites. Used as arms dumps during the Spanish Civil War. 15 minutes away in Benidoleig. The tempature in the caves is constant all the time.
· Fitness Centre- there is one in the Bella Vista Club (short membership available) and another in Ondara both 15 minutes away.
· Petanca In Pego (a sport conducted in the South of Ireland, France and parts of Spain).
Boat trips to see dolphins. The trips leave from the harbour in Denia and go a few times a day.
· River boating, from Pego on the marshlands. The tourist office Pego issue the tickets, which are at a nominal price.
· Quad biking. There are organised trips from Denia and recognized courses under supervision. See Denia Quads.
· Cliff climbing.
· Hunting*

*A licence in some cases has to be obtained from the local authority or the local tourist office. This is a formality in which we will assist you if necessary. A small fee is usually payable to the local authority.
