The villa
The villa is located in a quiet urbanisation in Maro near the Caves of Nerja. Maro is a sleepy village and has around ten bars/restaurants and a good choice of small supermarkets and shops. Maro has its own mini balcon set in front of the pretty villages church and also its own beach. Nearby Nerja has an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars and five beaches which offer sunbed and parasol hire, watersports and pedaloes. Please note that our Ford Fusion car is free for use by our guests for the duration of their stay and is available to meet you on arrival at the airport (drivers must be age 27+).
Out & about
Outside
The private outdoor swimming pool is 22 x ten and ranges from three to five deep. There is a full range of patio furniture including sun loungers alongside the pool and on the other two terraces. The roof top terrace is above the master bedroom, whilst there is a lower level sun deck inside the private walled garden.
Coast/Beach
The beach in Maro is a few minutes drive, it has one restaurant which serves typical spanish cuisine. There are five beaches in Nerja (about 5-10 min drive depending on which beach). The main beach is the Burianna, where you will find plenty of watersports and activities offered including introductory scuba diving and day cruises along the coast. You will also find plenty of restaurants and bars here.
Golf
Golf is available in Baviera golf in Caleta de Velez (15 min).
Skiing
Skiing is only 1.5 hours away in the Sierra Nevada. This is a attractive skiing area with 70 pistas.
Travel
Malaga Airport is appoximately a 45 minute drive.
Our Car is available for you to collect at the Airport to take you to our holiday home in Maro and is free for you to use during the duration of your stay.
Distances
Granada - Alhambra Palace is just over an hours drive from Nerja. Inland lake Vinuela - attractive blue lagoon surrounded by mountains is worth a trip (about 30 min drive). Two Aqua Parks - one at Torre Del Mar (about 15 min drive) and one at Almunecar (about 15 min drive). Frigiliana, a nearby village was voted prettiest village in Spain.
Further details
The village of Maro has all the basic needs like small supermarkets, bars, restaurants, church and post office. There are larger supermarkets in Nerja itself and lots of gift shops, boutiques etc. Also in Nerja you will find banks and exchange shops to change your currency. Nerja also holds a large market on a Tuesday morning.
The Costa del Sol Area
This area boasts the best climate in Europe and is excellent for many different kinds of holiday, whether sightseeing, relaxing, activity based, golf, water sports, walking or a mixture of all of these.
You can ski in the morning and be on the beach in the afternoon.
Sample the delicious Andalusian cooking and take part in the numerous fiestas of the region.
Now the new motorway has opened up along the south coast Granada is only a one .5 hr drive. It boasts one of the most magnificent examples of classic Moorish architecture, the Alhambra Palace, seat of the Nasrid Kings. This is Spains no1 Tourist Attraction. If you want to go skiing the Sierra Nevada is only 30 minutes further on from Granada.
Salobrena and Almuñécar are about half hour drive and have a much more Spanish flavour than a lot of the towns west of Malaga. The mountain town of Ronda is up in the hills above Marbella and is a three hr drive, but well worth it. The town straddles a deep gorge and hosts the Plaza de Torros the spiritual home of bull fighting.
