The Balcon del Mar apartment block is located in the area of Dehesa de Campoamor on the Costa Blanca coastline in South East Spain. It is a privately owned complex of three floors, comprising 19 apartments, villas and commercials.

Bev says: "We booked this apartment after looking through many others on the Villarenters sight. We were worried there were not many reviews, but understood that it had not been rented out very many times. The property was very reasonably priced for the time of year we were going, 5-17 August, so we decided to go for it. Jan, the owner, is very nice and we spoke to her on the phone several times before we went. She arranged for Alan to pick up and dro p off at airport. Alan and his wife Chris look after and clean apartments in the area and he was brilliant. We paid 110 euros (extra 10 because we returned at 4 am) and he gave us loads of good advice and was on hand when our burglar alarm went off unexpectedly (that was all sorted very quickly) The apartment is lovely, spotlessly clean (thank-you Alan and Chris) and very spacious with everything you could possibly need. Air con in the main room and ceiling fans in the bedrooms. The kitchen is very well-equipped with a proper cooker, dishwasher, and out on in a sort of outdoor covered utility room is a washer/dryer and airers. The pool is fabulous - the top part is quite deep about 12 feet all the way across and the childrens pool is down some steps and there is a lovely feature waterfall from the deep to the shallow pool Around the pool there is a lovely pagoda where you can sit in some shade, with tables and chairs to have your lunch. There is even a bbq there, though we didnt use it. It is exceptionally quiet around the pool - even in August we were mainly the only ones in it!! There were hardly any other English people there, a few Spanish people came into the pool at times, but we used to go in about 10.30 and then again about 2 and there was hardly ever any other people there - just like our own private pool. Jan had left lots of things in a locked room near the pool i.e sun loungers a ball, a windbreaker, which we used on the beach one day! The view from the balcony was beautiful - we overlooked the pool which was lit at night and looked gorgeous. There is a little bar/cafe below the apartment called Don Bigastro, but we didnt hear any noise from it and the couple who managed it David and Belen (I think they are called) are so nice. The meals are basic but tasty and good value for money (about 6 euros for a pizza or spaghetti or lasagne) and very good service) we nearly ran out of money on the last couple of days and so ate there. They even gave kids free ice-cream on our last night. There is a long stretch of cafes about 5 min walk away with lots of different types of food, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Chinese you name it - its there. We found this part a bit too commercialized and would far rather have found a little restaurant on its own or more spaced out. All the eating places seemed to be on top of each other - and eating out it not cheap! We accepted that, however, and it didnt spoil the holiday. The beach is lovely and is about 20 min walk away - on the way back be prepared that it is an uphill walk which is quite hard with a tired 6 year old, a moody 13 year old and all the gear you take down with you. Good exercise though, and I managed it with a bad back and knackered knees!! The beach is better the further you walk - a bit sea weedy nearer to the apartment, but bigger and better sand further on and restaurants around the beach. There are lifeguards further on too. Overall we had a terrific time here. We shouldve brought some family dvds with us as although Jan had some, there were none really for the kids (but at least there was a dvd which some apartments dont have) and there was Sky tv with limited channels, but still great when we needed to get the kids out of the pool. We would definately recommend this apartment and would love to go again! Thank-you Jan. (We have tried to post this review 3 times but for some reason it wasnt accepted)"
