The windmills
In a very quiet location, at the edge of the small village of Paradela, these two typical windmills have been fully recovered and are available for vacation rentals. Since the windmills are identical, description applies to both of them.
Each property is a recovered windmill, fully restored to accommodate six to eight persons. It is located in a quiet village, only six km from the beach of Apúlia and 12 km from Póvoa de Varzim. Mini-market can be found in 1,5 Km, horse riding in six Km and 9-holes golf course in approx. ten Km.
This cozy windmill with 132 m² living area has three bedrooms (2 of them with en suite shower rooms, in the first and second floors, with external stairs), one bathroom, one entrance hall with fireplace, one living and dining room with sofa bed and a fully equipped open kitchen (wash machine and dishwasher included). It is also equipped with satellite television and central heating.
It is surrounded by a garden with swimming pool, grill and garden furniture. Parking place available. High encircling walls provide complete privacy.
Póvoa de Varzim
This ancient settlement was given a charter in the fourteenth century, although it was not until the eighteenth century that it began to be known as an important fishing port, when a large number of fishermen settled here and soon formed a tight-knit community.
The excellent beach, which is a most popular attraction in the summer season, was the main driving force behind the town's development and it is now a busy resort offering visitors a full range of hotels, a golf course, a casino and excellent facilities for all kinds of sports.
In the surrounding region, the town of São Pedro de Rates, which was once the municipal seat, is well worth a special visit, particularly its Romanesque church built from the eleventh to the thirteenth century, as well as the eighteenth-century former town hall and pillory.
