The property
Monte da Lagoa is located by Melides, with direct access to the sandy ocean beach of Vigia de Melides (800 meters distant) and to the Lagoon of Melides (2 walking minutes). The village of Melides, with shops and restaurants, is three Km away. Lisbon and its international airport is 130 Km distant, to Faro is 193 Km.
The main house lays in the middle of a pinetree forest and a biologic farm. In a nearby building one finds two vacation apartments equipped with central heating and with separate entrances.
A dettached cottage (70 m², construction year 2003) has been recently added. Equipped with central heating, it consists of two double bedrooms, living/dining room with satellite television and sofa bed, fully equipped kitchen (stove with oven, dishwasher, micro wave, etc.), complete bathroom and a 90 m² terrace with furniture and BBQ overlooking the sea and the lagoon. Sleeps five persons.
All guests have access to a laundry room with wash machine.
Rental bikes available on site, nearby horse riding centre. Angel possibility in the lagoon.
Melides
Melides is a typical small village in Alentejo's seashore. A quiet place to enjoy some days or relaxation, anytime of the year. The ideal place to go to the beach if you're one of those people who prefer almost desert beaches, having nevertheless all the the small joys of life like having a cold beer at the bars while watching sunset
The area around Melides is well worth visiting if only for the great beauty of the many peaceful beaches that can still be found along this coastline. The village and lagoon of Melides and the nearby Lagoa de Santo André provide visitors with the necessary infrastructures. The area is very popular amongst Portuguese holidaymakers, who come here every year and help to create an atmosphere of youthful gaiety that lasts all summer long.
Pottery has been produced in Melides at least since the fifteenth century and there is currently a project in progress for the revitalisation of this craft, which has already made such a valuable contribution to the local economy.
The well preserved landscape that can still be found here has made it possible to develop various open-air activities, ranging from adventure sports to simple, pleasant country walks or bike rides.
Costa Azul
The Tourist Region of the Costa Azul represents 5.6% of the country and 7% of the population of Portugal. Throughout the 5100 km2 the diversity of landscape and the variety of the environment are most notable.
