Matera farm house rental details

Lovely restored 18th Century Farmhouse
Imagine yourself sipping a cold drink down in attractive, sunny, Southern Italy, in an area literally steeped in ancient history. You are less than ten minutes from attractive open beaches on the Ionian sea, less than an hour from mountains in a National Park where inexpensive skiing is available during the winter, and only five minutes drive from shopping in the nearest hilltop town. This is a place that can only really be described as a hidden gem, within an undiscovered area.

Easily reached from the UK and Europe via Bari, Brindisi or Lamezia Terme Airports
Converted 18th Century Farmhouse with A/C & plunge pool, sleeps 4, great for families. Easily reached via Stanstead, Gatwick and Heathrow via BA, Alitalia, Ryanair & other airlines from across Europe. The house is very relaxing, and peaceful. Included are a plunge pool, BBQ and air conditioning.

Historical area with habitation going back at least seven thousand years
There are many attractions locally including miles of empty beaches, water parks, mountains, and the whole area is steeped in ancient history including the Unesco World Heritage site at Matera only 30 minutes drive away, where people lived more than 5000 years BC.

The house is very secluded, and very quiet and peaceful. In winter skiing is available just over an hour away, and it is possible to sit on a sunny beach in the morning and ski just after lunch. Ski hire is 10.00 Euros per day, and a lift pass is 15.00 for the entire day. The mountain setting is beautiful and almost empty with queues of only one or two people..

Sleeping:
The farm house comprises 1 bedrooms in total; 1 double and 2 cots, 1 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The property also has double sofa beds located in the in the lounge (as occasional spares) a double bunk bed located in the in the main bedroom, but can be put in the lounge if required, or in a separate log cabin at additional cost. This room gives up to 5 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

General:
farm house has 1 bathrooms and 1 WCs for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the farm house cool.

Entertainment:
The farm house has television. The music system will play cassettes, radio.

Eating & Living:
There is room for 6 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Colin says: "This is a lovely place. Great welcome from Michael and Lorena who are currently looking after the property. Peaceful rural location - up a dirt track - you need a car. Nice to cool off in the pool. The surrounding area is beautiful. Lots of small hilltop towns to explore but also handy for the coast. Historical/archeological sites and not too far for shopping (Taranto and Matera) and restaurants (Policoro). Not too many Brits - so it helps to know a little Italian. We would definitely consider going there again."
