Plaudren is a large village with imposing neo Roman church, located between the lovely towns of Vannes and Josselin and within easy reach of the attractive Morbihan coastline. The area boasts over 300 km of marked hiking trails which will take you through woods and picturesque roads to discover small churches and old traditional houses, mansions, castles, shrines as well as some megaliths.

PLACES TO VISIT:
Vannes. 20 km. Delightful and lively city with narrow cobbled streets and medieval buildings crammed around its cathedral. Outside the old walled town, the large colourful port shelters many yachts and is the point of departure for scenic boat trips to the Gulf of Morbihan islands.
Gulf of Morbihan. 20 km. Inland sea dotted with attractive and picturesque little islands (one for each day of the year !) offering an exceptional panorama that can be enjoyed by boat or during a walk along the coast.
Josselin. 30 km. Lovely medieval town on the banks of the tranquil River Oust. The town is overlooked by a magnificent castle, still inhabited but open to the public. The castle also hosts an interesting Doll museum.
Auray. 30 km. Charming little town with attractive old quarter with delightful 15th and 16th century houses. Nearby Ste Anne d’Auray is Brittany’s most important place of pilgrimage drawing thousands of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world all year round but especially on July 26th for its “Pardon de Ste Anne” which was attended by Pope John Paul II in 1996.

Golf de Baden, Baden. 30 km. Golf course. three holes Par nine - 535m. 18 holes Par 72 - 5952m. Amidst pine trees and genêts, on the banks of river Auray.
Camors Adventure Forest, Camors. 30 km. Adventure Park/Tree climbing. Set off on an exciting adventure in this hilly, wooded and lakeside setting and try out the monkey, rope and vine bridges high up in the trees. (Adventure course takes 2.5 hours to complete.) Rhuys Peninsula. 40 km. Between the Gulf of Morbihan and the Altantic ocean, it boasts long sandy beaches, a golf course directly on the Atlantic coast, small fishing ports and the typical weekly markets. A paradise for sailors and watersports enthusiasts.
Pontivy. 45 km. Quaint market town with both a Napoleonic and medieval quarter overlooked by its fabulous 15th century moated castle. Situated on the banks of the Nantes to Brest Canal, it has a lovely atmosphere and boasts a large variety of restaurants and bars. Don’t miss the market every Monday morning!
Carnac. 45 km. Sought-after and lively seaside resort with excellent sandy beaches. Also renowned for its impressive prehistoric standing stones. A wide range of watersport activities are available as well as a good selection of restaurants and bars.
