Libourne. four km. A bastide town full of charm and elegance, with many grand houses lining wide boulevards and lying on the confluence of the Rivers Isle and Dordogne. Some of its fortifications can still be seen today.
St Emilion. 12 km. Delightful village with steep narrow streets lined with attractive historical buildings and monuments, and surrounded by prestigious vineyards and chateaux producing some of the very finest wine in the world.
Bordeaux. 35 km. One of the world's best-known cities, seen by most as the world capital of wine and home to many great French personalities including the philosophers Montaigne and Montesquieu. From its rich past, the city has conserved a considerable architectural heritage and boasts elegant 18th century buildings and three of its historic edifices have been classed world heritage sites by UNESCO.

Ste Foy la Grande. 45 km. Attractive medieval town on the banks of the Dordogne river with half-timbered houses, a central square with stone arcades and lovely church. Boat trips on the river available as well as a small river beach.
Monségur. 50 km. Bastide town on the Dropt river founded by the English, with 13th century church and lovely half timbered houses. A walk around its original walls will offer attractive views across the Dropt valley and surrounding countryside.
Duras. 55 km. Small and pleasant market town with attractive Chateau which can be visited. Also famous for its wines.
Aubeterre sur Dronne. 60 km. Classified as one of the prettiest villages in France, this village, full of rustic charm with steep cobbled streets overlooks the Dronne, is built in the shape of an amphitheatre on a white cliff. Its monolithic church is one of the most attractive and unusual churches in the world. Dating from the 12th century, it is carved into a chalk cliff and is the largest underground church in France.
