Stunning waterside private villa
The Villa has a peaceful and restful atmosphere, possibly due its religious history. It is set in Donje Obuljeno, a quiet suburb of Old Mokosica, occupied mainly by Croatians, with very few tourists in evidence. We would describe the area as "rustic". All of the neighbours are very friendly - some own their property as a holiday home, so a few properties are not occupied all the year around. Part of the property comprises on an old family chapel, which is now used as a dining room with an amazing atmosphere. Outside there is a Renaissance style restored garden with its own natural well. It is two miles from the ACI Marina where there are excellent restaurants and a good supermarket. The Old City of Dubrovnik is eight miles from the Villa, with the Port Town of Gruz four miles distant. The Old City is a major tourist attraction, as it has a Venetian atmosphere, with a large range of restaurants and bars and excellent cultural activities including concerts.
To the rear, there is a secluded Renaissance style restored garden. The Villa is 400 years old and survived the 1667 earth quake which destroyed most of the Old City of Dubrovnik. The garden has its its own fresh water well, a raised herb garden, a covered gas barbeque area, surrounded by a cobbled path and low walls. Loungers and a covered large dining table and chairs are provided. Guests can pick fresh figs, lemons and oranges when in season.
The sea is just outside the front of Villa Mirak, where many of the neighbours swim during the summer months. There is also a mooring for a boat of up to eight metres in length. There is a small sea facing terrace with table and chairs, which is a great place to relax in the evening and just watch the yachts slipping in and out of the Marina, whilst sipping a cool beer or vino. Many of our guests have said how much they enjoyed the wonderful walk or cycle ride outside the Villa leading past the old monastery to the village of Komolac.
